Neely and Jason met on Bumble, when Jason was living in Milwaukee and Nelly was living in Kenosha. Although Neely ignored Jason for a month or so, thinking he was kind of boring, she finally gave in and their first date was to a Milwaukee Admirals game.
Neely nearly ruined Jason’s plan for popping the question by inviting her parents to town the weekend he was planning on proposing. Luckily, he turned it into a family Christmas lunch and when the Christmas lights went on in Pere Marquette Park, he was able to get down on one knee in front of everyone.
“Hyatt Regency was so helpful and kind every step of the way. Staff were so attentive to the wedding, and they made our wedding and our time so special. The room to get ready in was also an absolute dream.” The reception was held in the Vue, at the top of the Hyatt. “It has an absolutely gorgeous view of the entire downtown. We loved this because we were able to see all of the places that we fell in love.”
Neely and Jason’s menu consisted of herb encrusted chicken breast with tomato puree and a pan seared filet steak with asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes, with a vegetarian/vegan option of a napoleon with or without goat cheese. They also had a late-night pizza bar set up to keep the party going around 10 p.m.
Neely was able to find her dress at Strike Bridal Bar. “They have amazing service for plus size women. I felt so comfortable. They also have champagne and confetti when you find your dress. It’s a whole experience.” Although she tried on about five dresses, she ended up buying the first one she tried on. “I knew it was the one because I felt like a princess. I am so picky, but I knew it as soon as I put it on. I was frustrated because the first dress is such a cliché, but it was perfect.”
Neely’s parents built both the ceremony arch and copper signs with acrylic for use at the wedding. Lovingly, the sisters of both the bride and groom restored an old wagon to use as the ring-bearers’ ride down the aisle for an extra special touch.
The ceremony was unique because the officiant was a longtime friend of Neely. She is a pastor, and this was her first wedding she had officiated. She was also the first person to know that Neely was going to be going on a date with Jason way back when. ”Kayleigh provided a very personal and heartfelt ceremony filled with just the right mix of scripture and personal anecdotes. Everyone was laughing and many had tears in their eyes.” Then at the reception, Neely and her dad broke into a choreographed dance during their father/daughter dance. It was a huge surprise for everyone! Light foam sticks also added new life to the dance floor.
