A stunning springtime wedding in Wisconsin

How They Met

Kaylee and Derek met in college at UW-Whitewater, where the two were introduced by Kaylee’s roommate. Derek moved to Tennessee for a few years, and when he moved back to Wisconsin, they met up for a drink to catch up. Shortly after, they started dating.

The Engagement

On December 19, 2021, Kaylee and Derek were hosting an early Christmas celebration with her family, including her mom who flew up from Tennessee as a surprise. After opening gifts, Derek passed out Christmas cards to everyone. All of the cards were empty – except for Kaylee’s. When Kaylee opened her card, it read, “Will you marry me?” Derek got down on one knee, asked her to marry him, and of course, she said yes. Moments later, Derek’s parents walked in to surprise the bride-to-be as well. Then, on top of that, Kaylee’s best friend entered the room. The couple’s Christmas party ended up being an impromptu engagement party!

The Dress

Kaylee found her dream wedding down at Bliss Bridal Boutique. Her hair and makeup was done by Beauty Unveiled by Tia and perfectly complimented the dress and veil.

The Ceremony

Kaylee and Derek had their wedding ceremony at St. William Catholic Church in Waukesha. For Kaylee, one of the moments she remembers best is reading the beautiful letter Derek wrote her before the mass. They tied the knot in a traditional Catholic ceremony, for which their vows were written for them. To express their love in their own words, the two decided to write letters to each other to read the morning of the most special day of their lives.

The Reception

The bride and groom hosted their wedding reception at Historic Courthouse 1893 in Waukesha. Kaylee and Derek loved the history behind the venue and appreciated the fact that it was multiple levels. Cocktail hour took place on the first floor, after which all of the guests made their way upstairs for dinner and dancing.

One of the newlyweds’ absolute favorite moments was their entrance at the grand march. As they walked into the room, they were surrounded by cold sparks, which created a wonderful spectacle. Their first dance song was “Yours” by Russell Dickerson. Kaylee and Derek wanted all of their family and friends to have an amazing time celebrating, so they invested in a light-up dance floor, a great DJ, and a photo booth.

The Photos and Videos

Kaylee and Derek hired Allysha Noelle Photography to capture their day. In addition to the church and reception venue, the couple and their party stopped by the fish hatchery and Downtown Waukesha near a beautiful bridge and gazebo for stunning outdoor pictures.

The Décor

The color palette for Kaylee and Derek’s wedding consisted of light blue and silver. The gorgeous floral arrangements were designed by Waukesha Floral & Greenhouse.

The Food and Drinks

Chef Jack’s catered the reception dinner, with a menu consisting of salad in a martini glass (so cute!), filet, and chicken. Guests indulged in donuts for dessert.

The Honeymoon

To continue the celebration of newly wedded bliss, Kaylee and Derek left the day after their wedding and flew first class to an all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana.
