Samantha and Kyle at Red Circle Inn

A Classic Winter Wedding at Red Circle Inn

October 9, 2024

Evergreens, blacks and golds add classic touches to a supper club wedding.

How They Met

Samantha and Kyle went to the same college and had lots of mutual friends, but never met or even knew of each. After college, a friend tried to introduce them for about a year, but nothing happened. They finally met each other, by chance, at the Shamrock shuffle and have been together ever since.

How They Got Engaged

Samantha and Kyle take lots of walks on the glacial drumlin trail with their dog, Tucker. Kyle proposed while on a walk by the lake at their dogs favorite swimming spot. He tied a bandana on Tucker that said “will you marry my dad” and unveiled it from under Tucker’s jacket in their favorite spot.

The Planning Process

Wedding Date: December 16, 2023
Guest Count: 197
Style/Theme: Classic winter, old fashioned, supper club
Wedding Colors: Evergreen, black and golds
Wedding Consultant: Hannah Osterman with Red Circle Inn and Geronimo Hospitality Group
Rehearsal Dinner: Delafield Hotel

What was your favorite design?
“I made the bridesmaids bouquets and corsages with wooden flowers from Sola and they turned out beautifully – with a pearl wrist band, gold baby’s breath, and white roses.”

Weddings Looks

Dress: Amelishan Bridal
Bridesmaid Dresses: Savvy Bride
Menswear: Men’s Wearhouse, Groom’s Jacket from Etsy
Hair: Erin at Haven Hair Co. in Lake Mills
Makeup: Bride’s Sister and Matron of Honor
Rings: Husar’s House of Fine Diamonds in West Bend

How many dresses did you try on?
“About 8 I believe. I was torn between two, I liked the silhouette of one and the detail of another. The woman who was helping me that day went back and pulled the dress that had the best of both gowns that I was so torn between. I knew it was the one as soon as I put it on”

Ceremony Details

Location: Red Circle Inn
Photographer: Gavyn Taylor Photography
Photo stops: Delafield Hotel and Red Circle Inn

“Our pastor did such a wonderful job and tailored it to us as a couple. It was tight in the space with as many people as we had in the ceremony room but it made it feel so personal and felt so loved and supported.”

Ceremony Decor

“We loved the warmth the that the venue brought for our winter wedding. The venue had a large fireplace along with many really cool and unique bars that are original to the restaurant. Red Circle Inn is known to be the oldest restaurant in Wisconsin. For decor we had large, dramatic evergreens that lit up on the space and a ton of candles to bring warmth. For table centerpieces we used an evergreen velvet runner with candles and a pine sprig and a couple of pine cones. The space turned into a forest winter wonderland.”

Reception Details

Location: Red Circle Inn
Food and Drink: Red Circle Inn and Donuts from Elsie Mae in Lake Mills

“We had an open bar for cocktail hour and highly recommend the venue’s old fashioneds as a “signature.” Food was the option of braised beef short rib with buttered mashed potatoes, salmon with a buerre blanc sauce, or a vegetarian seasonal canneloni. Guests were also served Caesar salads for a starter as well as bread/butter. We had so many guests raving about the food and that it was some of the best they had at a wedding, which was so nice to hear!”

Music & Entertainment: James Hacker, High Street Sound
First Dance Song: Yours by Russel Dickerson

“We had a ton of people out on the dance floor until the very last song, and an encore was requested by the group and our DJ delivered with “Love Story” by Taylor Swift and we had the whole place joining in a circle around the bride and groom. Will be a memory to last forever!”

Looking Back

Biggest Wedding Splurge: “The food. Our venue is a supper club so we were locked into their food if we wanted the space, and we loved it so much after touring. We knew the food would be incredible. We are so happy with the venue and food that was served.”

Vendor Who Impressed You the Most: “Our photographer, Gavyn, as she also had a lot of great input regarding our schedule for the day and what works best. Our vendor was also wonderful at making sure we had everything planned out months in advance, as well as the day of. She had helped to set up the venue, change out tables, made sure our dessert was placed after dinner, in the same location that the appetizers were, etc. Hannah Ostermann and her team helped us to just enjoy our day as everything was taken care of for us.”

What Moment Sticks with You the Most?
“Dinner. Getting the chance to relax a bit and enjoy the work that had been put in by everyone and the vision coming together after a year of planning.”

Words of Wisdom
“Give yourself breaks from planning and talking about it. It can take over your world, but plan certain nights where you don’t work on the planning.”
